Viagra
Viagra (sildenafil) is an anti-impotence medication with powerful effects that make it possible for the patient to have sex without losing the erection achieved. Viagra is efficient for most patients taking it and has just a few side effects that are generally short-lived and mild. The effects of Viagra are based on allowing more blood to enter the tissues of the penis. Sexual stimulation is required for this medicine to work. If you take Viagra 45 minutes before sexual activity, it is going to be most efficient. Avoid drinking alcohol as it can worsen some of the side effects you may experience. The following mild side effects are sometimes possible: memory problems, warmth or redness in your face, neck, back pain, upset stomach, headache, and stuffy nose. There is no reason to get worried as these symptoms are most likely to indicate your body is adjusting to the treatment prescribed. Make sure you watch for more serious side effects that are possible, such as fainting, lightheadedness, blurred vision, priapism, itching or burning during urination, ringing in ears, dizziness, chest pain, rash, sudden severe loss of vision, shortness of breath, and loss of hearing. Sudden vision loss is a side effect that was reported in patients with a number of risk factors – such as high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, diabetes, pre-existing eye problems, as well as those older than 50 and regular smokers. Whether Viagra is the cause or one of contributing factors is not known for sure, which is why it’s best to discuss any risk factors you have before starting the treatment. Never combine Viagra with isosorbide mononitrate, nitrates and isosorbide dinitrate, as a sudden drop in blood pressure is possible. Sudden drop in blood pressure can lead to fainting, stroke and heart attack. Your doctor will also probably want to know if you have or used to have kidney disease, penis conditions, recent stroke, heart failure, coronary artery disease, eye problems, blood system cancers, recent heart attack, bleeding disorders, sickle cell anemia, very high or low blood pressure, active stomach ulcers, or liver disease. Some of these conditions may require a dose adjustment, while other ones may prevent you from safely taking Viagra. You are not supposed to start any new medications without previously talking to your health care provider, even if those are some herbal supplements or vitamins.
